With the cold heading technology cultivated over many years, we meet diversifying and sophisticated customer needs.
What is cold heading?

Cold heading (forging) is a technology that applies pressure to metal in a room temperature environment to deform it into certain shape. It is also called plastic working because it is processed by utilizing the plasticity of metal.
With this cold heading (forging) technology, Arai Parts provides specially shaped metal parts to a wide range of industries such as automobiles, home appliances, light electric appliances, and housing equipment.
Plastic processing: To deform a metal into a desired shape by utilizing the property that it cannot restore its shape when it is deformed by applying a certain force.
Cold heading processing method
We will talk about typical cold heading processing methods.
By combining these processes, it is possible to manufacture complex shapes using cold heading.
Drawing

Upsetting

Trimming

Hole punching

- Forward extrusion (drawing)
- It is a process that applies pressure to the material to make it thinner than the original diameter.
- Upsetting
- It is a process that applies pressure to the material to make it thicker than the original diameter.
- Trimming (punching) processing
- It is a process to die-cut the material.
- Backward extrusion (punching)
- It is a process that applies pressure to the material to make a hole.
Processable material
We use metal material for cold heading that has been processed to a special shape and wire diameter.
- Steel: S10-55, SCM415, 435 and others
- Aluminum: A1000-6000 and others
- Stainless Steel: SUS304 XM7, SUS410 430 and others
- Copper / brass: C1100 2700 etc.
Please contact us for materials not listed above.
Advantages of cold heading compared to other methods
If the customer's required specifications (precision, shape, quantity, etc.) meet the manufacturing conditions for cold forging, there is a possibility that the cost of parts can be significantly improved by reducing secondary processing, etc., and great value engineering can be achieved.

Cold headed products
- Cost reduction
- Since it is not cut, there is little material loss, which leads to cost reduction.
- High strength
- Since it is not cut, the fiber flow of the material (metal) remains and the product will have natural strength.
- Mass production is possible
- Since the processing speed is fast, productivity is extremely good and mass production is possible. (High-speed production of around 40 to 60 pieces per minute is possible)
- Uniform and stable quality
- Since the shape of the product is molded by a mold, it is possible to manufacture a large number of uniform and stable products with high processing accuracy.
- Continuous processing is possible
- Since there is little distortion due to heat, it is possible to continuously process high-precision products.
Integrated production at our own plant - Production flow from inquiry to delivery
We manufacture the mold and perform trial run for the parts according to the customer drawings. We perfrom mass production to inspection and delivery in our own factory. We also thoroughly support follow-up after delivery.
The schedule from inquiry to delivery varies depending on the contract details and processing details.
We can discuss and give you an approximate schedule according to the products. Please contact us for more information.
Meeting
proposalMeeting
proposal
We will propose price quote and product shape after discussions with the personnel in charge of procurement and design.
Mold manufacturing,
Product trial (verification)Mold manufacturing,
Product trial (verification)
After receiving an order, we manufacture and check for quality of the prototype according to the mold design and prepare for mass production and delivery.
Mass production
After the product trial is completed, we will produce mass produced products (from heading to secondary processing) according to the necessary delivery date.
Inspection
We strictly inspect the process and product tolerances with an inspection machine, visual inspection, etc. according to the drawing specifications and conditions.
Delivery
We will deliver the product by the delivery method that meets the customer's needs.
Follow up & management
Strict quality control even after the start of mass production. In the unlikely event of trouble, our dedicated staff will respond promptly.
We will collect improvement proposals from each department such as the production department and inspection department, in order to make VA / VE proposals to customers.
